The annual LEA Legislative Awards Banquet will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in the Coral Room, at the Mermaid Event Center 2200 County Hwy. 10, Mounds View (near Ramsey Co. Rd. H, just northwest of junction of Hwy. 10 and I-35W). Free parking and entrance are on the west side, in back of the building.

What We Can Do to Promote Economic Growth Toward a Better, Lower, Broader, Simpler Tax Code, Improving Government Budgeting
John A. Spry is an associate professor in the Finance Department at the University of St. Thomas. He earned his B.S. in economics at Ohio State University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics at the University of Rochester. His work as a consultant includes a report on the economics and taxation of riverboat casinos for the Indiana Legislature and a report on tax expenditures and the budget process for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. He was a member of the Minnesota Governor’s 21st Century Tax Reform Commission. He is a proponent of lower tax rates, a simpler tax code, and broader tax bases without special carveouts for the politically powerful. He is a regular guest on Up and At ’Em with Jack and Ben, occasionally contributes op/ed columns to the Pioneer Press, is on twitter at @JohnASpry, and blogs at JohnSpry.com
Come join members of LEA for an evening with supporters of constitutional government from across Minnesota as we gather to hear from LEA’s legislative honorees and present LEA award-plaques to those who earned honors in our 2016 report.
